Impulse vs Prestige: which Shopify theme should you buy?
Impulse if your store lives on campaigns, drops and promotions and your products are simple to explain. Prestige if your photography is exceptional and you sell a premium product that deserves whitespace. Both are excellent and both stop at roughly the same place: around thirty addable sections and a product page that runs out of blocks before a complicated catalogue does. That is the gap Ecomfella was built to close, and the numbers below are how we show it rather than say it.
- How you sell
- What the catalogue needs
- What the product page must carry
- What you own afterwards
Who is writing this, and how we counted
Ecomfella wrote this page. We sell a Shopify theme, so we are not a neutral party, and this is our comparison from our position. What makes it worth reading anyway is that the numbers are not opinions. We downloaded both themes, opened the source and counted with one rule for every theme including our own: a section counts when its schema offers a preset, because that is exactly what the Theme Editor lets you add to a page; a block counts when the product section declares it; a setting counts when it carries an id.
The releases matter, so they are on record: Impulse 9.0.0 and Prestige 11.1.0, both counted on 2026-09-19 from the versions available on the Shopify Theme Store. Both makers ship updates, and when they do we count again and change the date. The verdicts on this page are ours. The counts are anyone's to check.
The counts, side by side
Four numbers explain most of the difference between any two themes. How many sections you can add is the size of your toolbox. How many blocks the product page accepts and how many settings it exposes is how far the product page can go before you reach for an app. The number of section files in the source shows how much of the theme is fixed to a template rather than free for you to place.
Impulse and Prestige are close to each other on every line. Prestige edges ahead on the product page, Impulse on promotional tooling that these counts do not fully capture. The third column is why this page exists.
| Counted from the source | Impulse | Prestige | Ecomfella |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sections you can add | 29 | 32 | 167 |
| Product page blocks | 16 | 28 | 53 |
| Product page settings | 10 | 12 | 122 |
| Sections in the source | 55 | 60 | 198 |
What they feel like to sell with
Impulse, by Archetype Themes, is a promotion machine. Promotional grids, countdown timers, announcement bars, a slide-out cart with upsells and a homepage that can be rebuilt around a sale in an afternoon. Its editing experience is among the cleanest on the Theme Store and its documentation is excellent. It suits a brand that has something new to say every week and products that a shopper understands in one image.
Prestige, by Maestrooo, is an editorial theme. Generous whitespace, large imagery, refined typography and a product page that treats photography as the argument. It is the theme people mean when they say a store looks expensive. It rewards brands with strong, consistent imagery and punishes brands without it, because an empty-feeling Prestige page is very empty indeed.
Where each one runs out
Prestige has the deeper product page of the two, with 28 blocks against Impulse's 16 in the releases we measured. For a catalogue with variants, sizing, materials, bundles, delivery information and trust content on one page, both themes reach the end of their block list before the catalogue does. The next step on either is an app, and every app is a subscription, another script on the page and one more thing that can break on the next update.
Ecomfella's product section accepts 53 blocks and exposes 122 settings, and the theme ships ten complete cart directions rather than one drawer. That is not a claim that it converts better; nobody honest can promise that from a count. It is a claim that you will hit the ceiling far later, and that what you would otherwise rent from apps is in the theme you own.
Which one to choose
Choose Impulse if you run campaign to campaign, your catalogue is straightforward, and you want a theme with a decade of Theme Store history and a large community behind it. Choose Prestige if you sell a premium product, you have the photography to carry it, and a refined product page matters more to you than a large section library.
Choose Ecomfella if you want the largest toolbox we have measured, a product page and cart built as one system, and nothing that phones home or bills you monthly. We are the new name of the three, so we would rather you check than trust us: the showcase shows six real stores section by section, and the comparison on the why page counts every theme by the same rule.
- Impulse: campaign-led stores with simple products.
- Prestige: premium brands with exceptional photography.
- Ecomfella: stores whose product page and cart need more than either offers.
- All three: test with your own products on a phone before buying.
Run the same test on all three
Take your most complicated product, your simplest one and one that is out of stock. On each candidate, on a phone, open the menu, find the collection, choose a variant, read the full description, add to cart, edit the quantity and return to shopping. Count how many of those steps needed an app or a workaround.
Then count the apps you would still be paying for after the theme purchase. That number, more than the theme price, is the real cost comparison. Keep the comparison dated, and redo it when a maker ships a major release.

Questions before you decide
Is Prestige better than Impulse?
For a premium brand with strong photography, usually yes. For a promotion-led store with frequent campaigns, Impulse is the better fit. They are close on measured counts and different in temperament.
Which has the better product page?
Prestige, with 28 product blocks against 16 for Impulse in the releases we measured. Ecomfella accepts 53.
Are these counts official?
No. They are our counts from the theme source, using one published rule for every theme including our own, with the release and date recorded. Anyone with the themes can repeat them.
Why is Ecomfella in an Impulse vs Prestige comparison?
Because we wrote it and we sell a theme. We put ourselves in the third column so you can see where we sit on the same numbers instead of taking our word for it.
